Sambuca di Sicilia water purification plant.

Description of the supply

The plant is geographically distributed in 3 sites: Sambuca di Sicilia, Bagnitelle and Lago di Garcia. The water is pumped from Lake Garcia with 3 lifting pumps in the Bagnitelle disconnect tank and by fall arrives at the Sambuca di Sicilia water purifier where it is purified. Hardware and software design and engineering, supply of electrical distribution and automation panels, commissioning for the management and control of the entire system.

Technology used

The automation has been realized with two Siemens 400H hot automation masters. The supervision was implemented with a double Scada Siemens WinCC also redundant. The central automation system communicates with the remote systems located in Bagnitelle and Lake Garcia with Siemens GPRS modems from the Sinaut series that allow to establish a permanent data connection using the GSM / GPRS radio base stations of the territory. Sinaut GPRS modems in the event of loss of data connection also have the local data logging function which is then retransmitted to the central system once the connection is re-established. The data connection between the lifting station and disconnection tank has been redundant with a second UHF communication. The system is composed of over 3000 I / O.

The system implemented in addition to automating the purification process allows to record at any time the physical and chemical parameters of the water and in general all the significant quantities that ultimately make up the plant control reports. The system was completely centralized in Sambuca di Sicilia, significantly reducing management times.
